About Me

I am passionate about communication and I have dedicated my career to it in many different ways. I studied science at university and later completed an advanced degree in science communication because I wanted to be a science writer. For the last 13 years I have worked in all areas of publishing from writing to editing, and even a bit of typesetting and picture editing along the way. I have moved out of science too, and have become an expert content editor in several areas including employment law, education, and even domiciliary care!

But where I really excel, and where I get the biggest kick, is in helping others realise their writing goals. Over the last decade I have worked with many authors to polish and finesse their writing so that their finished manuscript reflects the excitement and energy which first prompted them to set pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). I pride myself on being flexible, working to support writers in their work and to achieve their goals (not mine), and to maintain their original voice and their initial vision.

The feedback I have had over this period of time has been phenomenal for me. Often I have had an author tell me that they feel more secure knowing that their manuscript - which has often taken them years to write - is in the safe hands of a professional. Invariably authors tell me that they value my input, and that they can see the value an editor adds. Helping someone to reach that lightbulb moment; to finally slot into place that awkward sentence or clean up a sloppy dialogue and see their manuscript coalesce into that initial vision; that's an experience I feel privileged to share.
